Laser Surgery                                      

Your pet's health is as important to us as it is to you.  We are pleased to offer laser surgery as an exciting new option for safe, comfortable treatment.  In many procedures, the laser can replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery.  You may ask why laser surgery?

Less Pain- Laser energy seals nerve ending as it moves through tissue.  Your pet feels less pain post-operatively.

Less Bleeding- The laser seals small blood vessels during surgery which allows the doctor to perform surgeries with extraordinary precision.  This also speeds some procedures reducing the need for anesthesia.

Less Swelling- Laser energy does not cruch, tear, or bruise because only a beam of intense light contacts the tissue.

Reduced Risk Of Infection- The laser sterilizes as it removes diseased tissue, killing bacyteria that cause infection.

Precision- The laser can remove unhealthy tissue while minimizing adverse affects to healthy surrounding tissue.

Quick Return To Normal Activities- Recovery is rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort. 

Day of Surgery

A registered veterinary technician will check in your pet before surgery and answer any questions you may have.  For elective surgeries, we offer presurgical bloodwork, IV fluid therapy, and microchip inplantation at the time of surgery.  Your pet will recieve a pre-medication sedative to calm them and ease their anesthesia experience.  They will then be given an IV injection to induce geral anesthesia.  A tube will be placed in their trachea to deliver oxygen and a gas anesthetic during the surgery.  This will keep them alseep and pain free during the entire procedure.  We offer Sevoflurane as an anesthetic gas, which has been used in people since 1995 and allows the pet to wake up quicker and smoother.  We untilize both resiratory monitors and ECG monitors during surgical procedures.  Although all of these machines are important for anesthetic safety, nothing can monitor your pet better and more closely than our hightly trained technicians.  We also place your pet on heating/warming blankets to keep them warm during and after surgery.  Your pet will be given a pain injection and sent home with pain medication.  Once the procedure is finished, your pet is moved to recovery where we continue to monitor your pet until they are awake and sitting up.  We will call you and let you know your pet is in recovery and waking up.  We usually send surgery patients home the same day with detailed discharge instructions for their type of surgery.
